PhD Meeting 2017

XXVII PhD Student Meeting 2017 in Erlangen:
An international exchange in environmental and hydrogeological sciences

The XXVII. Ph.D.-student meeting of hydro- and environmental geologists took place at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany) between 03rd and 05th of April 2017. It hosted 22 participants from Austria, Switzerland, Canada and Germany and topics covered groundwater-surface water exchange, sulfate in groundwater, permafrost, coastal aquifers, isotope applications in the hydrologic cycle, pesticides and groundwater as well as modelling with transport and turnover of pollutants. The meeting contributed to the network of young hydrogeologists and their exchange on an international level and was a full success. Planning for future meetings of this sort had a positive feedback and can be seen as an excellent chance for networking. It also helps the hydrogeological societies to motivate activities of young researchers in our field. For organisational efforts we are indebted to Anne Marx, Tobias Juhlke, Michael Mader and Marcel Hanisch.
